Morning! I hope you all had a lovely weekend! I checked the weather forecast and the second half of our week looks like a real winner- I'm hoping to get out into the garden for the first time and do a little spring clean-up. Can't wait!

I made this tiny little card- a scrapling I guess- for my husband this morning. He's been such a doll the past few months pitching in around the house because I haven't been sleeping. So I wanted to thank him and let him know how sweet I think he is.

The layout comes from Taylored Expressions sketch challenge this week. My base is PTI kraft cut and folded to 3" by 4". The decorative paper is My Mind's Eye Grow Collection from last year- one of my favorite collections ever.



The images are from Schlosser Designs Hey Cupcake set. I stamped the cone in Palette Burnt Umber ink and the ice cream topper in Palette Orangerie ink. I cut both parts out and popped them up on dimensionals for more interest. The sentiment was built from the same stamp set. I love how Erin built this set so that you can mix and match your own sentiments!

I finished the card by using my Copic Spica clear glitter pen on the ice cream topper for some sparkle.

Happy Saturday! I have a few minutes this morning before heading to work. Yes, I'm stuck going in to work again today. Oh well, maybe next weekend I'll get off!

My card base is PTI white. That gorgeous flower is from Hero Arts Big and Small Flowers set stamped in Palette Noir ink. I colored it in with my prismacolor pencils but didn't blend it this time- I wanted a softer and more rustic look for this card. I cut it out and popped it up on dimensionals.



That great pierced layer was made with the Ecstasy Large Borders Template and my Ornare vellum paper piercer. I like using the vellum piercer with these templates because I find it gives a crisper looking pattern.

I finished the card off with a piece of PTI spring moss twill ribbon and two self-adhesive pearls.

Happy hump day friends! Boy am I glad the week is halfway over! We're finally launching our new software at work today. It's been eighteen months in the making, many long nights, weekends, and sleepless nights (for one reason or another)!. I'm glad the day is finally here. I'm sure there will be several rough weeks ahead still but I'm glad at least this day is here. This is one of the reasons (along with my insomnia!) that I haven't been blogging as much in the past few months.

I had a few extra minutes over the weekend and created this sweet little card using this week's sketch over on Get Sketchy. As soon as I saw those little pennants I knew I had the perfect match!

My card base is PTI vintage cream cut and folded to 5" by 7". My decorative paper is all from My Mind's Eye Life Stories Collection 1. I love these soft shades of blue and cream on kraft. They're so dreamy! The die cuts are all from the matching sheet that comes with the collection. I faux-stitched the elements using my paper piercer and Copic Multiliner.



The sentiment is from Schlosser Designs Hey Cupcake set stamped in Palette Burnt Umber ink right onto the chipboard element. I popped the entire thing up on dimensionals.

To finish the card off I added some ivory satin ribbon from my stash and one of these adorable white tulle and rhinestone flowers. I adhered it to my card base using a drop of Glossy Accents.

Another week means a brand new sketch over at Card Patterns. We're lucky to have another fabulous sponsor this week- the amazing SRM Stickers!

My sister-in-law's birthday is coming up in early May and I decided to be ahead of the game for once and create a card now instead of scrambling last minute. I'm sure you can all relate to that! {wink}

My base is PTI vintage cream cut and folded to 5.25" square. I like making these larger, square cards when I know I'm going to hand deliver them. Plus I also try to load on the embellishments!

My decorative paper is all from My Mind's Eye Life Stories 1 Collection. I faux-stitched it using my paper piercer and Copic Multiliner.



The chipboard elements are from the same decorative paper pack. I used this brand new Pssst! Shimmer spray in Frost on the rose chipboard piece to add some shimmer and sparkle to my card. It worked really well in this weight of paper- the sparkle is fabulous in person!

My sentiments are all from SRM Stickers Birthday Sticker Sentiments. I finished the card off with an adorable ivory tulle butterfly. For fifteen cents, how can you go wrong? I can't believe these are so cheap! And they're absolutely adorable in person! I used a drop of glossy accents to adhere it to my card base.

Happy Friday! Boy, I am so glad the weekend is here. Do you have anything fun or exciting planned for the weekend? Unfortunately, I have to work all day tomorrow. Our big software conversion is finally taking place next week, so it's crunch time for me. But I'm hoping in another few weeks things will slow down and I will get my weekends back.

So, I promised myself this year I would start to scrap more. And while I'm no expert, I'm learning a lot and really enjoying it. This week is our third challenge over at Crop Suey and the challenge is all about white space. I hope you'll stop by and play along with us!

I decided to pull out another photo and make a layout. My base is 8" square. I trimmed my photo down to 5.5" by 3.5" to fit on the page better.



I cut a strip of PTI lemon tart and then used my SU slit punch on it. I topped it off with a strip of PTI summer sunrise. Both colors match the flowers in my bouquet in the photo.

The title adhesive letters are American Crafts thickers in black. Then I stamped PTI's Simple Alphabet letters to spell out kiss in Palette Moulin Rouge ink. The border is from PTI's Borders & Corners set stamped in the same ink. I used my scalloped circle punch to punch it out, then mounted it on dimensionals for more interest. And that was it!

I didn't add anything else to the layout to keep it simple and embrace the white space to go along with our challenge. Have a wonderful weekend!

It's time for another i {heart} papers design team challenge! This month, the lovely Deb Felts has challenged us all to a little sketch challenge with a twist to go green- to recycle something on our project. [Here's a link to the sketch in case you want to play along with us!]

I just bought a new pair of sneakers last week and had them sitting in my studio waiting for me to try out. I was inspired by the colors on the box and decided to use the colors (and the box) for my card. And just so you don't think I'm making it up, I even took a photo of the lid before I cut into it. {wink}



My base is PTI true black cut and folded to 5.25" square. The decorative paper is all from Cosmo Cricket's Garden Variety pad. These patterns are perfect for masculine or feminine projects! I faux-stitched the paper using my paper piercer and Copic Multiliner.

Now, for the recycling part of my card. See that orange panel my striped paper is mounted to? That's part of my shoebox! I cut it out, used my Basic Grey files to distress the edges, and then mounted my decorative paper to it. Then, for some extra shimmer I sprayed the entire layer with some Psst! Shimmer Spray in Frost. You have to let this dry for about 20 minutes, but it's worth it! I worked on the rest of my card and set this panel aside in the meantime.



My image is from Unity's It's Your Day set stamped in Palette Noir ink. I colored it in with my prismacolor pencils, then cut it out and popped it up on dimensionals. My sentiment, or half of my sentiment (the other half that says wishes appears inside my card), was stamped in Palette Orangerie ink.

I finished my card off with a couple strands of glimmer ribbon, one in lime green and one in orange. The button is from Cosmo Cricket's Garden Variety button pack. I also added some shimmer to my image with some Copic Spica glitter pens in red, olive, and lemon.
