Happy Friday! Boy, I am so glad the weekend is here. Do you have anything fun or exciting planned for the weekend? Unfortunately, I have to work all day tomorrow. Our big software conversion is finally taking place next week, so it's crunch time for me. But I'm hoping in another few weeks things will slow down and I will get my weekends back.

So, I promised myself this year I would start to scrap more. And while I'm no expert, I'm learning a lot and really enjoying it. This week is our third challenge over at Crop Suey and the challenge is all about white space. I hope you'll stop by and play along with us!

I decided to pull out another photo and make a layout. My base is 8" square. I trimmed my photo down to 5.5" by 3.5" to fit on the page better.



I cut a strip of PTI lemon tart and then used my SU slit punch on it. I topped it off with a strip of PTI summer sunrise. Both colors match the flowers in my bouquet in the photo.

The title adhesive letters are American Crafts thickers in black. Then I stamped PTI's Simple Alphabet letters to spell out kiss in Palette Moulin Rouge ink. The border is from PTI's Borders & Corners set stamped in the same ink. I used my scalloped circle punch to punch it out, then mounted it on dimensionals for more interest. And that was it!

I didn't add anything else to the layout to keep it simple and embrace the white space to go along with our challenge. Have a wonderful weekend!

Hello friends! I hope your weekend is winding down nicely. I was able to knock a few things off of my big to-do list this weekend, but the list just keeps growing! {wink}

I've had this layout in progress for well over a week now and decided to finish it up tonight before it sat on my desk any longer. I thought I'd pop in here and say hi to you all as well and share it.

My base it 8" square. I used the latest layout over on Sketch This, but simplified it a bit. I've only scrapped 8" layouts so far and find that I have to simplify them a lot in order to be pleased with the outcome.

The joy image is from Schlosser Designs Outside the Box set stamped in Palette Sunflower ink to match the sunflowers in my bouquet. The breathe sentiment is from the same stamp set but stamped in Palette Belle Rose ink. I masked off the box using some Eclipse masking tape which left me with just that lovely scripted sentiment.



I used a corner rounder punch on the edges of my journaling box, then popped the entire thing up on dimensionals for more interest.

I drew the black border by hand using my Copic Multiliner and ruler. Then finished the layout off with a few buttons. In hindsight, I think I should have left the buttons off- but it's too late now. It looks a bit too busy for me. What do you think?

I finished all of my spring cleaning over the weekend, which meant I had a little extra crafty time this morning. So I whipped up this layout using a sketch from So Sketchy. The only difference is mine is 8" by 8" and I only used one photo. Sorry for the brightness of these photos- it's feast or famine here with the sunshine.

My base is PTI Kraft cardstock. The decorative paper is Lemon Grass Tangerine by Crate Paper. I also used a strip of Gold Beige Corrugated cardstock from K&Co. It adds a lot of texture to this layout.



I added a trio of buttons that I ran some hemp twine through to the bottom right of my photo. I limited my journaling to just the place and date the photo was taken. I used some pinking decorative edge scissors from Provocraft to cut the bottom edge of my decorative paper. Then paper pierced the top and bottom border for a bit more texture.



I distressed the edge of my circle with my Heidi Swapp edge distresser. My title reads My Rock. The alphabet stickers are Lemon Grass Alphabet Twist from Crate Paper.

This photo was from our trip to Denver in April 2008. We went hiking up Dinosaur Ridge, which was quite beautiful, but lacking in dinosaur fossils as promised. We still had a great time though. And hubby was kind enough to pose for me during our hike.

I was so excited to finally get to make another layout this morning. This was one of my favorite photos from our honeymoon. This was the view from the beach in front of our hotel. We sat under a straw hut sipping on margaritas all week. It was paradise!

The background patterned paper is DCWV Blue Vintage. The cream striped is Doodlebug Sugar Cookie Stripe. And then I used a small strip of Colorbok Aqua Stripe near the bottom. The layout is courtesy of Deb over on AllyScraps. I just found that forum last month and have really loved visiting. The girls there are what pushed me to try scrapping!



I made my own little journaling tag out of white scrap paper, a dotted stamp, hole punch, and some hemp twine. I thought it added to the beachy feel I had going on.

I distressed the edges of my patterned paper using my Heidi Swapp edge distresser. Love that thing! Then I dabbed the edges of my paper with Versamagic Wheat ink.



The alphabet stickers are from Basic Grey's Porcelain line and they matched perfectly! Love when that happens. The stamp on the left is Studio G $1 from Michael's.

I'm so used to taking photos of cards it's hard to adjust to the larger size of a layout. Any tips from you pros out there?

Ok, be kind to me today! I have my first ever layout to share with you this morning.

I know I said it a million times (although maybe not here on the blog)- what was the point of scrapbooking? Why would I want my photos to sit in an album never to be seen? I have digital photos on my computer that I can look at whenever I want.

Well, the truth is- I never go through the photos on my computer. I've forgotten all about these great moments! So I decided to dive in head first and try out scrapbooking. What do you think??



This layout is 8" square. I figured I would start small and work my way up. This photo is one of my favorites from our wedding day. Mike was so hungry he was ready to dive into our cake and just start eating. I cut the photo out using my square nestabilities. The polka dot decorative paper is Tea Box Full Moon Dots from K&Co. The aqua paper is Mushroom Land Flat and the pink scallop is a scrap I had leftover from Piggy Tales Oven Door. I used my SU slit punch to make the scallops.

I created a little journal tag that I could tuck behind my photo to remember the day. I used a silver eyelet and my crop-a-dile to set it. Love that thing! And I just don't use it enough. The pink satin ribbon was from my stash. Don't mind the glare in the photo- it's a dark and dreary day here in Buffalo so I had to turn my lamp on.



Here's a close-up of some of the detail. I used American Crafts chipboard thickers. These have glitter on them and look so delicious! I used PTI's Borders & Corners Monogram stamped in Palette Toile Pink to make a frame around my Studio G $1 stamp cupcake. The word sweet was stamped using PTI Simple Alphabet stamped in Palette Noir.
