IHP November Challenge

It's time for the i {heart} papers November design team challenge. And this time around, Deb gave us quite the challenge! It's a sketch based of this wonderful card by Joanne.

I can't say I'm much of a triangle girl, so I opted to make a little scrappy quilt using Basic Grey's Eskimo Kisses collection. My little scraps are all 1" squares. I drew in my triangles using my Copic Multiliner and a ruler. Then I faux-stitched around the edges of the quilt using my paper piercer and Inkssentials white pen.

My sentiment comes from my latest set Sleigh Ride stamped in Palette Noir ink. I made another little banner using a square punch on the edges and curved it with my fingers. Then adhered it to my quilt with dimensionals.

To finish the card off, I colored some of the squares in using my Copic Spica clear glitter pen and added a trio of self-adhesive pearls to the upper left corner.

And despite my hesitations about this sketch I actually like how my card turned out! I guess that's why they call it a challenge right?? {wink}

IHP Bash Day #6

Happy Saturday!! Our challenge for you today is to make a special birthday card… Remember, everything this week has to do with birthday celebrations...so be sure your creation is birthday related!

Before you begin, take a few minutes to review the challenge guidelines! You’ll want to follow these rules to maximize your points and qualify for the opportunity to WIN the prize for today’s challenge and the Grand Prize, all announced on the last day of our festivities!

To qualify for the prize of the day, all you have to do is upload your challenge card/project to Splitcoast Stampers (SCS) and/or Paper Craft Planet (PCP) with the appropriate tag so we can find it. Today’s challenge tag is IHPBB6. The daily challenge winners will be randomly selected at the end of the week.

To qualify for the Grand Prize of being IHP Guest Designer for the month of November, here’s how it will work: Every challenge card/project you enter will earn you points (see below), and one with the most accumulated for the week the Grand Prize winner. So the more challenges you enter, more points you earn — and the better your chances of winning the Grand Prize (and the bigger the value of your Guest Designer box will be)!

You will have until October 25th to post your work, and you can enter as many challenges as you like, but you CANNOT combine challenges in one project. All winners, including the Grand Prize winner, will be announced at the Birthday Bash on October 26th.

Birthday Bash Points

For each project:
5 points for each challenge card/project you make, upload and tag to SCS
5 points for each challenge card/project you make, upload and tag to PCP
2 points for uploading to your blog and linking at least one IHP item used to the IHP website

One time points:
2 points for signing up to receive our newsletter*
2 points for joining our PCP group*
2 points for becoming our fan on Facebook*
10 points if you participate in all 6 IHP Birthday Bash challenges

You can check the main IHP Birthday Bash page at the store to find out who's hosting the challenges each day. It will be updated daily.

Today, I'm lucky enough to have my friend, and uber-talented, Heidi Van Laar joining us! Be sure to stop by her blog and see what she's cooked up for you.

My card is special because it spent forever cutting out all those little party hats!! {wink} My base is PTI white. The decorative paper is from MME and Webster's Pages Drizzle.

I cut out all the tiny party hats from Best Creation Make a Wish. Then attached them with dimensionals over this ivory ruffled edge ribbon. My sentiment is from Inkadinkadoo's All Occasions set stamped in Palette Noir ink.

I went back with my Copic Spica black glitter pen and colored in the sentiment for some extra shimmer. Then attached two tiny loops of black satin ribbon behind my sentiment panel.

IHP Birthday Bash

I have a fun announcement to share with you this morning!

Get ready for the i {heart} papers Birthday Bash! That’s right, IHP is turning 1 year old this month, and a whopper of a party is planned! There's also a special gift planned to help others celebrate more birthdays. You’ll read more about that at the end of this post.

First, let’s talk about the party! There will be prizes galore (free stuff – you like free stuff, don’t you?), and a Grand Prize winner will be chosen at the end to be the IHP Guest Designer for the month of November!

There will be 6 birthday party themed challenges, one posted each day starting on Monday, October 19th. Each challenge will be hosted (and posted) by one of the IHP Design Team members. It will also be posted on the IHP Blog and on the store site HERE. Some special invited guests will be posting throughout the week, too! Each challenge will have its own prize.

A Special Gift

WIT Challenge #2

Happy Friday! Thanks for dropping by today.

I have the second WIT Challenge to share with you today. I hope you're ready for it! {wink}

Challenge #2 is: Dimension

Add dimension to your card or paper project any way you can. Whether it's popping a layer up on dimensionals, paper tole, using a Sakura Souffle or Glaze pen, liquid applique, etc. Just add some dimension to those projects!

To play along, create a NEW project and link it up in the comments section of this post. If you're going to upload it to SCS, please tag it with WIT2 so we can see all of your projects in one place! You'll have until midnight on Thursday August 27th to play along. I'll announce the winner via random draw here on my blog the 28th. That's right- you have almost TWO full weeks to play along!

For my project today, I decided to add some dimension to a clean and simple card. I popped my main panel up on dimensionals. Then used a white and pink Sakura Souffle pen to color in the two middle cupcakes. I used my Sakura clear Glaze pen on the cherry on the right cupcake, and a Sakura sky star Gelly Roll pen on the left cupcake. This makes the cupcakes look like they have real frosting on them!

My card base is PTI white. My cupcakes are Unity 1,2,3,4 Thousand Cupcake Calories and were stamped in Palette Noir ink. I used my prismacolor pencils and baby oil to color them in.

To finish my card off, I added some black grossgrain ribbon and a fun little sentiment.

I'm sure you're wondering what's up for grabs this time around!! Sakura has generously donated one package of Glaze Sticklers and one package of Souffle Sticklers to one random winner. These pens and stickers are fabulous for adding dimension to your projects!
